This course focuses on social work practice in the field of mental health and addictions. The course aim is to help students explore, identify and critique the policies, etiology and intervention related to mental health and addictions. Recovery-oriented intervention, including the concept of resiliency, will allow students to integrate practice, policy and research in relations to mental health and addictions. The students will be introduced to many ethical and critical issues in community service delivery and will be presenting recovery-based best practices for the future.
Walls to Bridges (W2B) version of the SWREN 470R course. Walls to Bridges brings incarcerated or criminal justice involved students and campus-enrolled students together as classmates in semester-long college or university courses. Classes are held in correctional facilities or treatment residential facilities, and are taught using a circle pedagogy and collaborative dialogue aimed to foster egalitarian and collective learning.
